Greenspace Ecological Solutions (GES) offer a range of badger surveys from site assessment to bait marking, camera trapping and sett construction/closure under licence.
Our surveyors are proficient in the use of current industry standard survey techniques for badgers, ensuring all surveys and reports meet the stringent requirements of local planning authorities, whilst ensuring the welfare and protection of badgers themselves.
Priding ourselves on the provision of affordable yet appropriate solutions to badger exclusion fencing, we can provide mitigation through the installation of replacement setts, the closure of active setts and the installation of badger highways were required. Providing a care package for ongoing maintenance both during and post development, we can further ensure peace of mind in regard to on-site ecology.
Badgers (Meles meles) and their setts are fully protected under current UK legislation. Through the application of detailed up to the minute survey work, concise reporting and the implementation of proportionate mitigation, we aim to provide a bespoke affordable service on time, every time. We pride ourselves on our understanding of current legislation and good practice guidelines for badgers, and aims to provide appropriate recommendations in every instance.

Following completion of a survey, our reports detail not only the survey methodology and results but also mitigation measures and licensing obligations, if required. This report would be suitable for submission with a planning application.

Please note that although a sites suitability to support badgers and badger activity surveys can be conducted throughout the year, due to seasonal constraints related to the breeding status of badgers, the optimal period for sett closures is from the 2nd July – 29th November.
