Phase I Habitat Surveys now often called PEA survey serve to document the habitat types and botanical species present within the survey area. Our team of experienced surveyors conduct Phase I Habitat Surveys / PEA Surveys following the Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC) industry standards.
To avoid un-necessary costs, Greenspace Ecological Solutions (GES) offer Extended Phase I Habitat Surveys in all instances. The extended survey goes beyond the botanical/habitat interest, by considering the potential for protected species (ie bats, reptiles, amphibians and mammals) to occur within a site.
Whilst applying our proficiency in terrestrial botany, we will complete a full habitat classification survey, whilst also compiling a comprehensive list of plant species present within the site. The onsite habitat type is mapped and on most occasions an electronic map is created to aid the sites representation within the report, this helps to aid planning authorities with their decision process.
Following completion of a survey, a report is produced, detailing the survey methodology and results, and we also include general mitigation measures and licensing requirements if required. This report would be suitable for submission with a planning application.
If your site requires a specific Botanical Survey and higher level of species identification and mapping we can also assist.
Believing firmly that the development of a strong client relationship is key to effective project management, we provide informative solutions to meet the needs of both planning and protective species legislation. Each project is issued with a Lead Ecologist who is here to help guide you through any ecological elements of the project.
We deploy only trained and suitably experienced surveyors to conduct “Phase I Habitat Surveys” and as a result we greatly reduce the need for costly repeat visits.
Although Phase I Habitat surveys can be conducted at any time of year, seasonal constraints related to botanical growth patterns mean the greatest level of detail is provided during the spring/summer months of any given year.
If you require a Phase I Habitat survey, PEA or more in depth Botanical Survey and would like to discuss the details of your project, why not contact us today as we would be happy to help.
